5 Signs Your Cat Needs a Vet

Cats often hide pain, so small changes can matter a lot. If you notice any of these signs, contact your vet.

1. Eating or drinking less (or much more)

A cat that skips meals for more than a day, or suddenly drinks a lot more water, should be checked.

2. Litter box changes

Straining, crying in the litter box or going outside it can signal urinary problems, which can be an emergency in male cats.

3. Hiding or low energy

A normally social cat that hides all day may be in pain or unwell.

4. Vomiting or diarrhoea

The odd hairball is normal. Repeated vomiting or loose stools for more than a day is not.

5. Breathing with an open mouth

Cats should not pant. Open-mouth breathing needs urgent attention.
